Each business should have a considered taxation strategy in place to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and to maximise the after tax return of the business for investment or wealth creation.

As Benjamin Franklin once said “the only things certain in life are death and taxes.” While many business owners don’t like paying taxes, they are a fundamental part of how we fund our society and somewhat unavoidable in the event a business makes a profit. Given the strong interaction between business transactions and the tax system, it is unavoidable that a good business advisor needs to know how to best manage the tax affairs of the business.

We offer a full taxation accountancy service enabling completion of both routine BAS reporting and end of year compliance tax returns for partnerships, trusts, companies and sole traders. We can also prepare the individual tax returns for our business owners and their associated family members.

We can also assist with structuring and restructuring tax queries and other one-off tax work that may be required. Sometimes tax matters require specialist attention and in this regard we have a strong network of professionals to whom we can refer these more technical issues. We don’t see the need to have these advisers on hand all the time but just when the need arises.

Because of our focus on businesses and their owners, we do not prepare individual tax returns for employees or smaller investors. In this way, we seek to maintain capacity throughout the year to our business clients and not be tied up with meeting the lodgement requirements of a large group of individual tax payers.

We maintain our accountant taxation skills through regular tax training and subscriptions and at all times look to inform business owners of the tax implications of their business activities in a clear and precise way. Both Ian Judson and Todd Wilson are Chartered Tax Advisers with the Australian Tax Institute and are regular attendees at their educational events.

Ideally, we look to provide tax services to clients who adopt our other service offerings. This means that our tax consulting services can be provided to clients with a better knowledge of the underlying business. However, it is not necessary for clients who adopt our other service offerings to also appoint us as their tax agent. We are quite happy for business owners to maintain their existing tax agents for tax matters should they so desire.
